Prof. Carlos Hojaij
Prof. Carlos R. Hojaij graduated in Medicine in São Paulo (Brazil), received the title of Specialist in Psychiatry by the Brazilian Medical Association in 1972.
Founder, Organiser and Director of Psychiatric Clinical Services at the University Hospital Santa Casa SP (1000 beds): Out-Patients, Day-Hospital and Liaison Consultation (1973-1985).
Founder and Director of the Consultation Liaison Service at the Private Hospital Samaritano SP (1987-1998).
Professor of Psychiatry, responsible for the disciplines Psychopathology and Clinical Psychiatry for graduated (Registrars) and undergraduate students of Medicine at Faculdade de Ciencias Medicas Santa Casa, São Paulo (1970-1985).
Associate Professor, Melbourne University (1998-2001).
Directly involved in the organization of more than 80 meetings and congresses (national and international levels), being President of several of them. Attendance in excess of 390 congresses, presenting 380 lectures.
Major areas of interest: Schizophrenia, Depression and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
More than 200 personal publications and contributions in several psychiatric books.
President of the Brazilian Association of Biological Psychiatry (1994-1995; 2011-2013).
Founder and Chief Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Biological Psychiatry. Founder and Associate Editor of The World Journal of Biological Psychiatry. Honorary member of several international societies of Psychiatry and member of more than 50 societies.
Honorary President of the Latin American Federation of Biological Psychiatry.
Served in several committees of the major international psychiatric organizations: World Psychiatric Association (WPA), Collegium Internationale Neuropsychopharmacologicum (CINP) and World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry (WFSBP).
Vice-President of The International Society of Psychopathology of Expression (Psychiatry and Art) from 1985 to 2001.
In 1997 became WFSBP Secretary-Treasurer, and in 2001 was elected WFSBP President, becoming Honorary President from 2005.
Living in Australia since 1998. During this time practiced academic (Melbourne University) and clinical activities (public as Executive Director, Bendigo Health Care Group, and private at The Melbourne Clinic, in the city of Melbourne).
Established his private clinic, The Melbourne Institute of Biological Psychiatry, in 2001.
One of the main fields of his practice was Second Opinion for Diagnosis and Treatment. During the period July 2011-July 2013 worked in São Paulo at the Clínica Psiquiatria Biológica Brasil and as a Consultant at the Hospital Sírio-Libanes.
In 2013 established in Cairns, together with Dr. Ana Drach, the Biological Psychiatry Clinic.
In August 2019 relocated his practice to Brisbane.

Dr Ana Drach
Dr. Ana Drach Initially graduated as Bachelor in Psychology and Clinical Psychology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
Clinical Psychologist for several years in private practice and also at the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service, Samaritano Hospital (São Paulo), which included providing psychotherapy for general patients and their families, as well as providing psychotherapy for patients with Post-Natal Depression.
Medical Degree at the Faculty of Medicine Santa Casa, São Paulo (Brazil).
Psychiatry Registrar at the University of São Paulo, continuing her specialty training in Melbourne (Department of Psychiatry, Melbourne University).
Sixteen years of experience in Clinical Psychiatry (Public and Private Service) in Melbourne.
Activities in many different psychiatric services associated to the Department of Psychiatry, University of Melbourne, including the Royal Melbourne (Orygen) and Austin and Repatriation Hospital.
Consultant Psychiatrist for the State Wide Secure Extended Care (SECU) at the Austin Hospital, aiming re-habilitation of psychiatric patients with psychosis and co-morbidities.
Consultant Psychiatrist responsible for the Austin Hospital Primary Mental Health Team (PMHT) to treat patients at early stages of psychoses, affective and anxiety disorders.
Along these years developed special interest in Early Psychosis, Schizophrenia, Perinatal Mental Health, Mood Disorders and Eating Disorders.
Clinical activity in her own consulting rooms at The Melbourne Institute of Biological Psychiatry.
During the period July 2011-July 2013 worked in São Paulo at the Clínica Psiquiatria Biológica Brasil and as Consultant at the Hospital Sírio-Libanes.
